“I didn’t know my life would change when I walked into Soundpoint Audiology in Casa Grande, AZ a few months ago. It’s one of the best things I ever did for myself. Hearing Loss Stem Cell Treatment

Researchers at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center continue their research into the use of stem cells to reverse hearing loss. Their current study is the first of its kind on human subjects. The patients are infants who lost their hearing during the prenatal period or shortly after birth. Genetically- deafened children are not eligible for this study. The infants were injected with their own umbilical cord blood, which had been harvested at birth.

Anecdotal information from one child’s mother suggests that some improvement in hearing may have occurred, although no data confirming the claim have been released by the research team.

The Cord Blood Registry reports that additional clinical studies currently are being conducted using cord blood stem cells to treat autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and pediatric stroke.

Animal studies on hair cell regeneration also are in progress at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Stem Cell Institute, and at Stanford University.

“I just wanted to share with you, we had a patient come in about 2 weeks ago, Randy was going to test her but after he looked in her ears with the video otoscope, he told her that her ears were impacted and he saw “something else going on too”. She had stated that along time ago she had a tumor in her ear, and that it had been removed, he told her that she needed to get to her primary care doctor to look at her ears. So Friday she came in crying, she stated that if it was not for Randy sending her to the doctor that she would not have known that it had come back, she was advised that the finding was bad, was a large health risk, but good that it was caught when it was.”
